Two weeks ago, as we studied what it means to take up the shield of faith against all the flaming darts of Satan, we focused at the end of the message on where Satan attempts to attack us most – our understanding and realization of our position in Christ Jesus our Lord. We walked through a series of verses at the end of that sermon and I have had several requests for them over the past weeks, so I’ve decided to put them here for us to all work on memorizing together!
I also want to add that this list is not even close to an exhaustive one! Feel free to use this as a base to work off of as the Lord brings more verses to your mind that fit into these categories.
Below is the list – enjoy!
Position and Benefits in Christ –
Free from condemnation –
Romans 8:1 (ESV): There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
John 5:24 (ESV): Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
United to Christ –
1 Corinthians 12:13 (ESV): For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
Complete in Christ –
Colossians 2:9–10 (ESV): 9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled [made complete] in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
Loved by God in Christ –
Romans 8:38–39 (ESV): 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
All Spiritual Blessings are Yours in Christ –
Ephesians 1:3 (ESV): Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
Forgiveness of Sin –
Ephesians 1:7 (ESV): In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace
Freedom from Sin –
Romans 6:5–6 (ESV): For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
The Indwelling Holy Spirit –
Ephesians 1:13–14 (ESV): In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (ESV): 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
John 14:16-17 (ESV): 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
